Recall that the legendary Czech hockey player Václav Nedomanský called Russians a primitive nation in an interview with Czech media.

«In my opinion, Russians, except for brilliant writers or composers, are a primitive nation. This has always been the case, and it has become particularly relevant after 1918. There is still no respect for human life there,» Nedomanský stated.

Moreover, he emphasized that he never wanted to have anything in common with Soviet hockey players.

«When I played against Russians, few of them were mentally healthy. Some of our players were friends with them, visited them, but I never wanted to have anything to do with them,» Václav added.

Nedomanský debuted in the NHL in the 1977/78 season, where he played a total of 421 games for the Detroit, St. Louis, and Rangers over the next six seasons, scoring 278 points (122 goals and 156 assists).

He has a silver medal (1968) and a bronze medal (1972) from the Olympic Games, one gold medal (1972), five silver medals (1965, 1966, 1968, 1971, 1974), and three bronze medals (1968, 1970, 1973) from the World Championships.

Nedomanský is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto and the IIHF Hall of Fame. He is also part of the symbolic team of the best players in Czech history.
