The USA will not provide Ukraine with security guarantees at the level of NATO: Chaly's statement.
According to ТСН: The USA is not ready to provide Ukraine with guarantees that would correspond to NATO membership.
This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center, Valeriy Chaly.
He noted that the United States may offer separate security guarantees, but these guarantees are not equivalent to the obligations that NATO members have.
The USA is also trying to share responsibility and costs with European allies and is placing part of the responsibility for security in Europe on the European Union.
“It is obvious that no allied guarantees at the level of NATO membership are going to be provided to Ukraine. Let’s be realistic,” Chaly emphasized.
Earlier, it was reported that the USA might provide Ukraine with security guarantees based on Article 5 of NATO. According to media information, such guarantees may be approved by Congress and acquire legal force. Donald Trump emphasized that providing these guarantees is an important aspect for the successful implementation of the peace agreement.
This situation highlights the uncertainty in the field of Ukraine's security on the international stage. Given the current circumstances, Ukraine should approach the issue of obtaining international guarantees carefully, understanding that such obligations may have their limitations. Support from the USA and NATO continues to be an important factor in ensuring security in the region.
