Bette Midler, 79, was the first to share her feelings in a touching Instagram post:

“Brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary Diane Keaton has passed away. I cannot express how incredibly sad this makes me.”
“She was funny and absolutely devoid of any malice or competition one might expect from such a star.”
“What you saw was who she was... oh, la-la-la!”

An emotional message from Goldie Hawn, also 79, read:

“Diane, we are not ready to lose you yet.”
“You left us a trail of fairy dust, filled with pieces of light and endless memories.”
“How can we say goodbye? What words come to mind when your heart is broken?”
“You never loved praise, you were so humble, but now you cannot tell me 'be quiet', darling.”
“There has never been and will never be anyone like you.”

Memories of Friendship

Goldie also reminisced about their bond during the filming of 'First Wives Club':

“I was happy to be filming 'First Wives Club' with you. Our days started with coffee in the dressing room, laughter and jokes, and lasted until the very last day of filming. It was a love-filled American rollercoaster.”
“We promised to age together, and one day, perhaps, to live together with all our friends.”
“Well, we never lived together, but we truly aged together. Who knows... maybe in the next life.”
“Shine your fairy dust up there, dear friend. I will miss you.”
“My heart goes to your beautiful children, Dexter and Duke. I love you.”

Diane Keaton became famous for her role in 'The Godfather' in 1972.

She will also be remembered for her roles in classic films 'Manhattan' and 'Hollywood Boulevard', for which she won an Oscar for Best Actress in 1978.
