After losing Jedward's mother in February 2019 to cancer, Gemma became a maternal figure to them.

Gemma, who openly speaks about her struggles with fertility, shared about the special bond she has with the singers from Ireland during an event for bookmaker Paddy Power.

“Paddy Power is a big family and reminds me of my surrogate kids, Jedward. I have adopted them. Not officially, but I would like to.”

Gemma, who is the stepmother to her fiancé Rami Hawash's son, also discovered her Irish roots while shooting the BBC show Who Do You Think You Are?.

“My grandfather on my father’s side is Irish,” she added, speaking at the opening of Paddy Power and Casino Hippodrome.

“Irish people always smile and have a spark in their eyes. They have charm. I wouldn’t change that for anything.”

Gemma emphasized that Jedward are very busy boys who do a lot of work that people don’t know about — they sing, dance, and perform in shows.

“They are truly special. They are from Ireland, after all. They are national Irish treasures, two little leprechauns.”

Gemma noted: “I should officially propose adoption to the boys. I definitely should, as they are so much fun.”

“I love them very much. We are just like one big family, and it helps me feel connected to my Irish roots.”

Just a few years ago, John and Edward were by their mother’s side in her final days, playing Fleetwood Mac as she died of leukemia.

On The Late Late Show, the twins admitted they miss their mother, who won’t be able to be at their weddings or see their children.

“Gemma is full of love and is naturally a very caring soul, like our guardian angel. We are so grateful to her for being a part of our life.”

Gemma celebrated the opening of the first fully licensed bookmaker in London’s Leicester Square, becoming the new face of Paddy Power earlier this year.

Paddy Power Gemma’s statement about wanting to adopt Jedward underscores the deep connection she has with these boys. This gesture reflects not only their friendship but also the desire to support one another in difficult times. They have both become important parts of each other’s lives, showing that true family does not always depend on blood.
