Gogglebox Star on Sick Leave Due to NHS Stress: Why Colleagues are Outraged.
Gogglebox Star Continues to Appear on the Show While on Sick Leave
According to The Sun: Sid Siddiqui, 80, is on sick leave due to stress from working at the National Health Service (NHS) but continues to appear on the popular Channel 4 show.
Instagram/ @sidsiddiqui38The pensioner is currently absent from his job at NHS Trust Derbyshire Community Health Services, where he worked three days a week.
According to MailOnline, the Trust allowed him to continue participating in the show, which he has been a part of since 2013.
A Trust spokesperson responded to a request for comment: “We cannot comment on the personal circumstances of any employee.”
This has caused outrage among Siddiqui's colleagues, as he is at home 'on full pay'.
“We are all under immense pressure at work – we have virtually no staff, and we are doing everything we can to keep the situation under control,” one frustrated colleague noted.
“After a tough day at work, we switch on the TV, and there he is—laughing and joking on Gogglebox.”
It feels like he is 'giving us the two-finger salute.'
However, sources claim that Siddiqui is doing nothing wrong: he has received permission from both his doctor and the Trust to continue filming.
The Connection Between Filming and Work
Siddiqui's doctor and the Trust assure that there is no conflict between the filming of the show and work duties. Filming takes place outside work hours and has a positive impact on his mental health.
It is known that Siddiqui, along with his three sons, Umar, Raza, and Basit, receives £4,500 annually for participating in the show. Typically, the participants film twice a week before a new episode airs.

Recent appearances by Siddiqui on television have caused outrage among his NHS colleagues.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Siddiqui is working on reducing the carbon footprint of the NHS Trust and implementing sustainability measures in hospitals serving over a million people in Derby.
This incident has become particularly relevant given data indicating that NHS employees take nearly two weeks of sick leave annually. The most common reasons for short-term absences are minor illnesses, with mental health ranking second.
A Gogglebox spokesperson stated: “The wellbeing of our participants is always our top priority.
“While it would be inappropriate to comment on the health conditions of individuals, we can confirm that all necessary medical and employment permissions have been granted with full support for the continuation of filming Gogglebox episodes.”
“Any suggestions to the contrary are categorically false.”

The Siddiqui family has appeared on the show since 2013.
The situation surrounding Sid Siddiqui has sparked lively discussions about the work-life balance and the influence of media on professional life. In light of such events, it is important to pay attention to the mental health of employees, especially in high-stress fields such as the NHS.
