Diane Keaton has died: the health issues the star of The Godfather battled.
According to The Sun: Diane Keaton experienced numerous health issues before her tragic death at the age of 79.
The star of The Godfather and Annie Hall battled skin cancer and eating disorders while becoming one of Hollywood's brightest stars.
AlamyKeaton's death was confirmed by her representative on Saturday, noting that she passed away in California.
Throughout her career spanning over five decades, the actress received numerous prestigious awards.
She won an Oscar for best actress for her performance in the hit 1978 film Annie Hall.
Keaton also received three Oscar nominations in the same category across different decades.
However, before becoming world-famous, she had to overcome several health issues in Los Angeles.
At the age of 21, she was diagnosed with skin cancer.
Doctors informed the young actress that she had basal cell carcinoma — the most common type of cancer.
She overcame the illness but faced cancer again in 2011.
“In a 2015 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Keaton reported a recurrence of squamous cell skin cancer on her cheeks, which required several surgeries.”
She also noted that her family has a long history of skin cancer, so she was always attentive to symptoms.

Keaton's cancer was successfully treated after surgeries, and, according to acquaintances, she lived a happy life in the years leading up to her death.
The family has not yet announced the cause of death.
Keaton also openly spoke about her struggles with bulimia throughout her life.
“In 1968, the director of the Broadway musical Hair offered Keaton the lead role on the condition that she lose a few pounds.”
Keaton recalled that at that time she lost “a lot of weight.”
Although she got the role, trying to please the director, she continued to lose weight.
“People were quite nice, but I felt like an outsider,”
Keaton said.
“I had a problem — it was painful and awful. Bulimia takes a lot of time.”
She suffered from binge eating, sometimes consuming up to 20,000 calories a day.
After several years of suffering, Keaton described her battle with bulimia as “the lowest point of her life.”
Thanks to therapy, she was able to recover.
“I spoke. I expressed my thoughts and feelings. And I feel that if you do that, you own what you feel.”
Keaton left behind two children: Dexter (29 years) and Duke Keaton (25 years).
