According to TSN.ua: A 49-year-old man has been detained in the Rivne region of western Ukraine. The incident, which involved a stolen vehicle and an exchange of gunfire with police, occurred on February 14 at approximately 6:40 AM. The suspect had previously deserted his military unit and, on January 30, stole a Fiat Doblo van, which was later discovered near the town of Klevan.
During the police operation to arrest him, the man fired shots at law enforcement officers from a window. A subsequent search of his premises led to the seizure of the following items:
- a pistol
- an automatic firearm
- three air rifles
- a bayonet knife
- 29 blank cartridges
- 7 shell casings
- a smoking pipe
- foil containing a psychotropic substance
Legal Proceedings
Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 1 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The detainee is currently being held in a temporary detention facility, with the military prosecutor's office overseeing the case.
