Ukraine's Central Bank Pledges No Utility Price Hikes Through Winter.
National Bank of Ukraine's Inflation Report
According to TSN.ua: The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has released its inflation report, confirming that utility service tariffs will remain stable until the end of the current heating season. This commitment is part of the government's broader effort to shield households from economic pressures during a challenging period. According to the forecast, prices for electricity, natural gas, heating, and hot water supply will not increase. This means consumers can expect current prices to hold until the season concludes, despite the growing financial needs for restoring the energy system following Russian attacks.
Forecast for Energy Resource Tariffs
Specifically, the gas tariff is fixed at UAH 7.96 per cubic meter until April 2026. The electricity tariff stands at UAH 4.32 per kilowatt-hour. These measures aim to ensure stability in the energy market under conditions where uncertainty about the scale and timing of future energy tariff adjustments remains a risk to the inflation forecast.
Simultaneously, the National Bank of Ukraine notes that potential future increases in electricity prices could heighten risks of energy market instability. This underscores the necessity for ongoing monitoring of the situation and potential measures to support stability in the energy sector.
Maintaining stable utility tariffs in Ukraine, given the difficult economic situation linked to the war and the reconstruction of energy infrastructure, is a crucial step for supporting social stability and preventing social tension. Keeping energy resource prices steady will allow consumers to plan their expenses, which in turn could positively impact the overall state of the economy. However, continuous monitoring of the energy market remains critically important for preventing potential crisis situations in the future.
