Price Hike for Greenhouse Cucumbers in Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: Greenhouse cucumber prices in Ukraine have risen again, driven by strong demand and a shrinking supply. As of today, prices range from 120 to 150 hryvnias per kilogram, marking a 10% increase compared to last week. This price surge is linked to rising costs for cucumbers in Turkey, as well as the poor quality of recent import batches.

Imported cucumbers from Turkey constitute the majority of supply on the Ukrainian market. However, this week, imported produce arrived only in small batches, which further pressured overall price levels. The current cost of greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine is now 61% higher than the figures recorded at the end of January 2025.

External Factors Influencing Prices

Consequently, the increase in cucumber prices reflects not only domestic market factors but also external trends, particularly the situation on the Turkish market. Amid high demand and limited supply, Ukrainian consumers are facing new financial pressures within the vegetable sector. This price volatility highlights Ukraine's continued reliance on agricultural imports for certain fresh produce.

Consumers may face further price fluctuations if the situation on external markets does not stabilize. This could also lead to shifts in consumer habits, as buyers begin to seek alternatives to imported products or choose other vegetables with more favorable prices.
