New Ukrainian Program Offers 70% Rebates for Apartment Buildings to Install Generators and Solar Panels.
Support Program for Apartment Buildings Expanded in Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: A Ukrainian government initiative has been expanded to help residents of multi-story buildings secure independent power. Through this program, officially registered associations of co-owners of apartment buildings (OSBB) and housing cooperatives (ZhBK) can obtain loans for generators and solar panels with state compensation covering up to 70% of the equipment cost. The program is implemented through 43 partner banks and aims to support the population in achieving autonomous electricity supply. This initiative is part of a broader effort to bolster energy resilience amid ongoing challenges to the national grid.
OSBBs can take out a loan at 0% interest for solar panels or generators. The state will reimburse up to 70% of the cost for equipment like solar power stations or heat pumps. For the purchase of diesel, gasoline, or gas generators, the compensation rate is 50%. The maximum loan amount is 3 million hryvnias, with a repayment term of up to 3 years. The applicable interest rates on the loan vary by term:
- Up to 1 year – 0%
- Up to 2 years – 5%
- Up to 3 years – 7%
To participate, an OSBB or housing cooperative must be officially registered and hold an account with an authorized bank. The assistance limits allow funding for one generator, one solar power station, and one heat pump per association. The application process consists of five stages, designed to be clear and accessible for participants.
Launch of the New Initiative
This new state program is scheduled to launch on January 30, 2026, enabling participants to receive between 100,000 and 300,000 hryvnias for autonomous power equipment.
The program was announced by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, who emphasized its importance for Ukrainians. The program's implementation aims not only to ensure energy independence but also to improve living conditions for residents of multi-story buildings. The expansion of this aid comes as Ukraine continues to rebuild and strengthen its infrastructure against a backdrop of energy instability.
The broadening of support for OSBBs represents a significant step in addressing the energy crisis, which has been exacerbated by war and global climate challenges. Increasing access to financing for self-sufficient power will help reduce dependence on centralized energy sources and ensure stability during potential supply disruptions. Importantly, the program also encourages investment in renewable energy sources, aligning with modern environmental standards and global trends.
