According to TSN.ua: As Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine enters its fifth year, the battlefield is marked by significant Ukrainian successes that contradict Moscow's claims of inevitable victory. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russia has failed to meet its initial objectives, notably its inability to seize the four regions it illegally annexed in 2022. By the end of February 2026, Ukrainian forces had made substantial gains, reclaiming at least 183 square kilometers of territory. This ongoing conflict represents the largest conventional war in Europe since World War II.

The frontline situation remains dynamic. Since December 2023, Ukraine's Armed Forces have liberated approximately 200 square kilometers in the areas of Novopavlivka, Oleksandrivka, and Huliaipole. These advances highlight the active efforts of Ukrainian troops to regain control of their land. Despite this, the Russian side continues to assert its position. Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov noted:
