Peter Kay on surgery without anesthesia: shocking details of treatment.
According to The Sun: Peter Kay shocked fans by sharing the incredible pain he felt when his urologist removed a stent from his penis without anesthesia.
The 52-year-old comedian details this intimate incident in his new book 'Peter Kay's Diary'. His anxiety began during a train journey to Wigan when he felt pain that reached his lower back in two days and prompted him to see doctors.

Just a day later, a CT scan confirmed the presence of a large stone at the exit point of his right kidney.
Peter writes:
“He (the urologist) reassured me but said I needed emergency surgery to remove the stone, a stent would also be placed in the urethra to preserve my kidney functions. Damn.”
Despite the doctor’s assurances, his panic only increased, and he had horrific thoughts about the upcoming procedure. He says:
“...I started to cry and occasionally made a high-pitched sound, like being shot in the testicles with a pneumatic gun.”
A small camera with a laser needed to be inserted into the urethra, and the mere thought horrified him. He notes:
“Then it dawned on me. Oh God, he means going through the little hole at the end of my penis. My world collapsed. Red lights flashed in my head. He can't go in there? That’s a no-go zone.”
The procedure went well, the stone was shattered, but the pain did not disappear immediately. For seven days after the surgery, he had difficulties urinating, and the situation worsened when he returned to the hospital to have the stent removed.
Peter shares:
“The urologist said I didn’t need anesthesia. He assured me it would be a walk in the park, although I can’t imagine what parks he walks in.”
“The urologist advised me to breathe deeply, then grabbed my penis like a snake and squeezed it, which left me with wide eyes.”
“It was painful and unpleasant, and a horrific experience I never want to repeat. Never!”
Just two weeks ago, Peter was forced to postpone two shows after a repeat procedure regarding kidney stones.
A statement from promoter SJM read:
“We regret to inform you that due to a routine procedure for kidney stones, Peter will not be able to perform at the scheduled shows at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham on October 5 and 6.”
“In accordance with medical recommendations, Peter will take time to rest and recover.”
The show on October 5 has been rescheduled for December 11, and October 6 for December 12. All tickets are valid for the new dates, and refunds are available for those unable to attend the new events.
Organizers expressed gratitude to fans for their “patience and understanding” in a statement.
Kidney stones are masses made up of salts and minerals that can vary in size from a grain of salt to a golf ball.
These stones are extremely painful, and many people who have experienced them claim that they will never forget the experience. Most stones pass on their own through the urethra, but some require surgical removal.
