Ukrainian Air Defense Records Significant Success in February 2026
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's air defense forces demonstrated exceptional capability in February 2026, successfully intercepting and destroying more than 30,000 aerial targets, including a wide array of missiles and drones. This performance highlights the growing sophistication and effectiveness of Ukraine's military in defending its national airspace against sustained attacks.
The destroyed targets included several high-value Russian missile systems:
- Three Kh-47M2 'Kinzhal' aeroballistic missiles
- Ten 'Kalibr' cruise missiles
- 87 Kh-101 cruise missiles
- Seven Kh-22/Kh-32 cruise missiles
- 12 'Iskander-K' cruise missiles
- 35 'Iskander-M/KN-23' ballistic missiles
- Eight 'Zircon' anti-ship missiles
- Eight Kh-59/Kh-69 guided air-to-surface missiles
In addition to missiles, Ukrainian forces eliminated a vast number of unmanned aerial vehicles in February 2026:

- 26,008 drones of other types

Aviation Operations and International Cooperation
Ukrainian aviation conducted 576 sorties during the month. Of these, 398 were for fighter aircraft cover, while 112 were dedicated to fire support and close air support for ground troops. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's broader role, stating:
'Ukraine is ready to help Europe defend its skies.' - Volodymyr Zelenskyy
This statement reflects Ukraine's ambition to contribute to regional security and collaborate on air defense, leveraging the hard-won experience from its own conflict.
The destruction of such a large number of aerial targets not only proves the effectiveness of Ukraine's air defenses but also highlights the critical importance of continued international defense support. Given the evolving nature of the conflict and emerging threats, this demonstrated capacity for cooperation could prove vital for enhancing security for Ukraine and its European neighbors alike.
