Russia Offers Cash Bounties for Attacks on Ukrainian Forces.
Russia's Military Incentive Program
According to TSN.ua: The Russian military has implemented a system of cash bonuses for units that successfully strike Ukrainian Defense Forces. In February 2026, a monetary reward of 25,000 rubles, roughly equivalent to 14,000 Ukrainian hryvnias, was established for each confirmed hit on enemy personnel. A mandatory requirement for receiving these payments is video evidence documenting the moment of impact. This initiative highlights the financial incentives being used to drive battlefield actions in the ongoing conflict.
Drone Warfare and Soldier Motivation
These payments have already been put into practice within specific formations of Russia's 5th Combined Arms Army, including the 127th Motor Rifle Division and the 143rd Motor Rifle Regiment. Units from these military formations have been actively involved in carrying out strikes against Ukrainian defenders, particularly in the areas of Verkhnya Tersa and Tsvitkove.
"A monetary reward of 25,000 rubles has been established, which is about 14,000 hryvnias."
Vladyslav Voloshyn
He added that to qualify for the bonus, soldiers must provide "video confirmation of the strike moment from another UAV." These new rules underscore the increasingly critical role of unmanned aerial vehicles in modern military tactics. The widespread use of commercial and military drones has fundamentally altered reconnaissance and strike capabilities on both sides of the front line.
The introduction of this reward system for successful strikes emphasizes the importance of motivating military units during active combat. Given the growing reliance on unmanned aerial vehicles, observable shifts in military strategies could influence the course of hostilities. This practice may increase pressure on Ukraine's Defense Forces, as Russian units receive additional incentives for more active participation in operations.
