Ukraine Denies Russian Claim of Capturing Rizdvyanka Village, Maintains Control.
The Situation in Rizdvyanka
According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian military officials have refuted a Russian claim of capturing the village of Rizdvyanka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, stating that Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) remain in full control. This frontline dispute highlights the ongoing information war accompanying the military conflict. According to available data, the settlement remains under Ukrainian authority. Rizdvyanka is situated more than 20 kilometers from the area of active combat, a point confirmed by spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn:
“This settlement is located more than 20 kilometers from the combat zone.” - Vladyslav Voloshyn
Ukrainian Forces' Advance
Reports from the front indicate that on the Oleksandrivka axis, Ukrainian forces have regained control of 400 square kilometers of territory and eight settlements since late January 2026. These gains demonstrate the UAF's active efforts to repel the Russian offensive. Heavy fighting continues east of the settlement of Dobropillia, but control over Rizdvyanka remains unchanged. Vladyslav Voloshyn further noted:
“This means that even the ongoing battles are taking place 20–25 kilometers away from Rizdvyanka.” - Vladyslav Voloshyn
In turn, Commander-in-Chief of the UAF Oleksandr Syrskyi confirmed positive developments on the front, announcing a breakthrough by Ukrainian forces. Defense units have pushed back Russian troops in the south along the border of Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts, indicating a gradual expansion of territorial control. Consequently, the situation around Rizdvyanka remains stable, with the area continuing to be held by Ukrainian troops.
The fact of Ukraine's control over Rizdvyanka is significant as it shows Ukrainian forces actively holding their defensive lines despite Russian assertions. Control of this village, located far from the main fighting, underscores that the frontline situation remains managed by the UAF and points to Ukrainian military successes in reclaiming territory. This may signal evolving dynamics in the conflict and the strategies of both sides in the near future.
