How U.S. and Israeli Strikes on Iran Could Undermine Russia's Strategic Position.
Putin's Allies Under Pressure: What We Know About the Attack on Iran
According to TSN.ua: On February 28, the United States launched a military operation codenamed "Epic Fury" against Iranian targets. This action prompted a retaliatory response from Tehran, which struck Israel and several American military facilities in the Middle East. Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was reportedly targeted by 30 bombs on February 28. This U.S.-Israeli military campaign against Iran could have significant strategic consequences for Russia, potentially weakening its network of allies. This development occurs against a backdrop of heightened global tensions, where regional conflicts increasingly impact major power rivalries.
Andriy Ryzhenko, a retired Navy Captain and former Deputy Chief of the Ukrainian Navy Staff from 2004 to 2020, commented on the situation, stating:
"The noose around Russia's strategic interests abroad is gradually tightening."
According to Ryzhenko, the outcome of this operation could lead to Russia losing yet another military partner, as well as a fellow member of the club of oil traders that could influence market prices.
Consequently, the events surrounding Iran may negatively impact Russia's geopolitical standing and the position of its allies in the region. The observed shifts in international politics suggest that key alliances could undergo substantial changes, which would, in turn, affect Moscow's economic and military interests.
This situation underscores the escalating tension in international relations, which could lead to further conflict in the Middle East and alter the regional balance of power. As a key player, Russia may find itself in a difficult position, as its traditional allies become more vulnerable to external pressure, potentially disrupting its strategic plans and economic interests.
