Drone Intercepted Near French Aircraft Carrier

According to TSN.ua: Sweden's Ministry of Defence has confirmed that a drone neutralized near the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle was launched from the Russian intelligence-gathering ship 'Zhigulevsk'. This incident, which violated Swedish territorial waters, has raised significant concern among local authorities. The Baltic Sea has become a focal point for such military probes, testing NATO's eastern flank.

The drone was intercepted in the area of Malmö harbour, where the carrier 'Charles de Gaulle' was docked. In response to the allegations, the Russian embassy in Sweden has firmly rejected the accusations, stating it has received no official communication from Stockholm. Embassy representative Sergey Belyaev asserted that

“the conclusions of the Swedish side allegedly lack an evidential basis”
.

Mounting Tensions Across the Baltic Region

This event follows other recent incidents in the area. For instance, on February 27, residents of Tulcea county in Romania received air-raid alerts linked to a Russian drone. Paul Jonson, a representative of the Swedish Ministry of Defence, commented on the situation, stating:

“This is, of course, serious and irresponsible”
.

The drone incident near the Charles de Gaulle underscores the escalating military tension in the Baltic region, where Russian activity continues to alarm neighbouring nations. It highlights an urgent need for enhanced monitoring and coordinated action among allied countries to safeguard territorial waters and prevent future provocations.
