Flamingo Missiles Hit the Votkinsk Plant

According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian defense forces struck the Votkinsk Plant in Udmurtia on the night of February 21, using FP-5 'Flamingo' cruise missiles. The facility, located 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, is a key production site for Russia's RS-24 'Yars', 'Yars-S', and 'Yars-M' intercontinental ballistic missiles. The attack caused significant damage to one of the production buildings, with a breach in the roof estimated to be approximately 30 by 24 meters in size.

Assessing the Severity of the Damage

In a related operation, Ukrainian units also targeted the Neftegorsky gas processing plant in Russia's Samara region, where a fire was reported. The full extent of the damage at this second site is still being determined. These deep-strike capabilities represent a significant evolution in Ukraine's military strategy, which now actively targets the industrial base supporting Russia's war effort.

“There were precise 'Flamingo' missile attacks at a range of 1,400 kilometers.”

Volodymyr Zelenskyy

President Zelenskyy added that Ukraine needs to increase its missile inventory, a goal dependent on funding and the availability of specific components. The strikes on strategic targets inside Russia mark a new phase in Ukrainian military operations, aimed at degrading the enemy's military infrastructure. This shift in tactics underscores the strategic importance of crippling production capacities that supply the Russian army. Attacks on such facilities could significantly impact Russia's ability to manufacture new weapons, potentially altering the balance of power in the conflict. The focus on critical infrastructure objects demonstrates Ukraine's willingness to employ advanced technologies and tactics to achieve its military objectives.
