SBU General Details Russia's Terrorist Aims in Lviv Bombings.
The Lviv Bombings: A Terrorist Attack and Its Consequences
According to TSN.ua: Major General (Ret.) of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Viktor Yahun, has stated that the explosions in Lviv were a terrorist act. He explained that the attack was coordinated with a large-scale Russian missile strike across Ukraine, aiming to destabilize the country and intensify psychological pressure on its citizens. This incident highlights Russia's ongoing hybrid warfare tactics, which combine conventional military strikes with covert operations.
The bombings in Lviv occurred simultaneously with Russia's mass bombardment of Ukrainian territory. Viktor Yahun emphasized the hallmark of Russian special services tactics, noting the use of a double explosion. He stated definitively that
"we can conclusively confirm that the Russian Federation is behind the terrorist attack in Lviv". This demonstrates that Russian aggression continues to manifest through various forms of destabilization, including acts of terror.
Ukraine's Ongoing Security Crisis
The situation in Lviv reflects the broader security crisis persisting in Ukraine under wartime conditions. The attack serves as another confirmation of the constant threats looming over the Ukrainian population due to external aggression. This conflict, now in its third year, has seen civilian areas repeatedly targeted.
This incident confirms a troubling trend of increasing terrorist threats on Ukrainian soil, especially amid an active military conflict. Given the continuation of Russian aggression, Ukrainian law enforcement and security services will be forced to enhance their measures to protect the population and prevent similar attacks in the future.
