Ashcroft supported the Gallaghers during their big tour this summer. “If you are that guy, you can pass the ball and create the atmosphere for them,” adds the artist.
“So, when I leave the stage, it takes half an hour before they come on, and the anticipation becomes very strong.”
Emotional memories
Before the final concert, Richard shares memories of how they supported each other during all 19 performances in Britain and Ireland.
“At the shows, older fans brought their children, who had never seen Oasis. It’s a moment of closure,” he recounts.
“We didn’t really understand what was happening then. Oasis supported us, and then we supported them — we had magical times.”
Richard emphasizes that there was a sense of unity at these concerts. “Society has become divided, and that sense of unity at the shows was very important,” he notes.
New album and future plans
Ashcroft talks about his new album “Lovin’ You,” which is released today. “It’s one of those ‘golden veins’ that I could ‘loop’ endlessly,” he shares his impressions on the new single “Lover,” which samples Love and Affection by Joan Armatrading.
