Apple launched the Invites app for creating event invitations.
Apple introduced a new Invites app for iPhone
Apple has announced the release of its new Invites app, which allows iPhone users to create event invitations. According to TechCrunch, the app is available for free on the App Store for iPhones with iOS 18 or later. Additionally, it can also be used online at icloud.com/invites.
To create invitations, the Invites app requires an iCloud+ subscription, but anyone can respond to them, regardless of whether they have an Apple account or Apple device. Event organizers can use the app to manage and distribute invitations, as well as view responses.
In the Invites app, users can select photos from their smartphone or the app's library to design invitations. The app is also integrated with the 'Maps' and 'Weather' services, allowing invitees to choose a route to the event location and view the weather forecast for that day.
Moreover, users can use Apple Image Playground to create original images and Apple Intelligence to choose fonts.
Event participants can add photos and videos to a shared album in the invitations to preserve memories of the event. Additionally, through the shared playlist feature, Apple Music subscribers can create a soundtrack for the event, which guests can access directly from the invitation.
The Invites app is similar to the free Partiful app for invitations, which was recognized as the best in Google Play in 2024.
After the official announcement of Invites, the developer of Partiful stated that Apple violated its own App Store rules by releasing its similar app. He posted a screenshot of rule 4.1 concerning imitators of apps on the social network X.
The Invites app will compete not only with Partiful but also with other popular invitation services such as Posh, evite, Paperless Post, and Sendo Invitations.
