Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2025: main problem

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are effectively winning in the confrontation against drones, but the Russians have begun to actively use fiber-optic drones, which has become a serious problem. This was stated by the chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, in an interview with the TV channel 'Rada'. 'This is a big problem for us, as it is impossible to stop them (fiber-optic drones - ed.) with electronic warfare systems,' Budanov noted.

The intelligence officer also noted that by 2025, they will be looking for a way to counter this Russian technology. 'Next year, I believe we will all be looking for some technological solution to deal with a large number of such devices,' Budanov said.

Let us remind you that on December 31, the warriors of the Main Intelligence Directorate destroyed an aerial target for the first Time in the world using the maritime drone Magura V5. It is noted that according to clarified data, as a result of a successful operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in the Black Sea near temporarily occupied Crimea on December 31, 2024, special forces of Group 13, using missile-equipped maritime drones Magura V5, destroyed two Russian Mi-8 helicopters.

Previously, Russian propagandists reported that on December 31 over the Black Sea, Ukrainian military personnel destroyed two Mi-8 helicopters with crews. This is reported by Russian Telegram channels. The Russians noted that they had not suffered such painful losses since 2022.

It should be noted that the destruction of the Russian Mi-8 helicopter using a maritime drone is a historic operation. This was reported by the chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov. He also noted that the Magura V5 drones had previously attacked the enemy's air forces several times. However, at that time, Russian equipment still 'made it' to the coastline, although it was destroyed.
