Hanukkah in the center of Kyiv. Katya Chilly commented on her post that caused a scandal.
Ukrainian singer Katya Chilly shared her attitude towards the installation of the Hanukkah menorah on Independence Square. She expressed her opinion on her Facebook page.
"I want to point out that if there are two nuclei in a cell, the nucleus divides. There should be one nucleus in a cell. And in the state of Ukraine, it is Ukrainian. So if we talk about symbols, the strategy of assimilation and integration, then it is not the Ukrainian people who should integrate into the traditions of another side. We must integrate into the Ukrainian tradition. All attempts to create new traditions on the ashes and ruins of the fallen intelligence of Ukraine will meet resistance and ultimately anger."
Katya Chilly emphasized the importance of preserving Ukrainian traditions and suggests embedding them into the life of the country, rather than trying to adapt to the traditions of other nations.
"We need to respect the Ukrainian tradition in return and integrate according to the Ukrainian vector, accepting its dominance. Then we can all be a political nation and one people, there will be no contradictions, fear inside, and tearing apart. The head will be one. And prioritization. There will be an organism, not shadow business," noted Katya Chilly.
The singer believes that Ukraine will be resilient if all its citizens unite around one principle. She also reminds that the main principle on the territory of the country is Ukraine itself.
"The only principle on the territory of Ukraine is Ukraine. And this is the interest of Ukraine in its effective and historical dimension. Ukraine will endure if it is united around one. Otherwise, it will be assimilated or torn apart from the inside by one factor or another. Parallels can be drawn to various ethnic groups and denominations, especially if the head is in another country," added Katya Chilly.
Katya Chilly believes that neutral Ukrainian symbols that promote the unity of different ethnic groups and denominations should be the basis for uniting society. She called for gathering around Ukrainian symbols that do not cause religious disputes and allow everyone to be equal.
"Why gather around local Ukrainian traditional symbols besides state symbols? Because they are the safest for everyone. They are not religious, they are the tradition of this land, which has allowed everyone to coexist all this Time without ever overshadowing their dominance. They are good. Empires have come and gone. And it has remained the same, ensuring identity. It, like a mother, does not allow assimilation and ensures equality for all," wrote the singer.
Katya Chilly also reminded that the Christmas symbols of traditional Ukraine are the caroling Christmas star and Didukh, while the state symbol is the trident.
Let us remind you that on December 25, a Hanukkah menorah was installed on Independence Square in Kyiv, which sparked various opinions among the citizens of Ukraine.
