In Lviv region, the number of COVID-19 patients sharply increased: what is known about new strains

In the Lviv region, the number of coronavirus patients is rising rapidly. In the last week alone, 192 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the laboratory, including 45 children. In total, 49 people were hospitalized.

Nataliya Ivanchenko-Timko, the director of the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, emphasized that the situation is serious, as the coronavirus has become a seasonal phenomenon. She believes that the increase in morbidity may be related to the emergence of new 'Omicron' strains.

'We have already sent samples to the reference laboratory of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine's Public Health Center. We are waiting for the results, but this will not affect treatment or anti-epidemic measures.'

Doctors advise people with cold symptoms to stay at home and consult their family doctor. For those who are healthy, it is important to avoid large gatherings, adhere to hygiene rules, and follow 'cough etiquette.'

'If you are in church or a public place and someone near you is coughing, move at least one meter away. This is a safe distance.'
