The President of Russia Vladimir Putin stated that he wishes to end the conflict in Ukraine, however, Russia will continue to achieve its goals by 2025. This statement was made before journalists after the summit of the heads of CIS countries near St. Petersburg, reported the propaganda agency 'TASS'.
During the speech, the president was asked about the conclusion of the conflict in 2025.
Beware of your words and drink honey. We also strive for an end to the conflict.
He was also asked about his opinion on the statements of the newly elected US President Donald Trump that the conflict could be frozen if Ukraine's NATO membership is postponed.
I am not familiar with the statements of the future team, but if it is so, then what is the difference between the current administration and the proposals you mentioned? There is no difference.
Putin stated that he will solve all tasks within the framework of the 'special military operation', as it is task number 1. He also responded that he believes in the end of the war in 2025 with a Russian victory.
Moreover, Putin mentioned that the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico spoke about a peaceful settlement in Ukraine and that Slovakia is ready to provide a platform for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
It is reminded that Russia lost international support due to the war with Ukraine and lost one of its main allies – Bashar al-Assad.
It also became known of Russia's first proposals for a 'peace treaty with Ukraine', which were drawn up shortly after the beginning of the invasion in 2022. This document indicates what specific goals Russia had at the beginning of the war and what it planned with Ukraine in case of capitulation.
