The twins' parents - Ihor and Iryna, school teachers from Lviv region, who could not become parents for several years until they learned about the state program.
The high cost of the procedure made it inaccessible for the couple. In March 2024, they learned about the state infertility treatment program and immediately applied to the Lviv Perinatal Center. The treatment was successful: already in June, Iryna was overjoyed with the onset of a twin pregnancy, - said Liashko.
In 2023, a state program of assisted reproductive technologies was launched in Ukraine, and the Lviv Perinatal Center became the first municipal institution to implement this program.

Ukraine currently has 20 facilities providing free infertility treatment services through assisted reproductive technologies. Such facilities are located in Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Rivne regions.
According to Liashko, among the 2 thousand Ukrainian women who used the state program of assisted reproductive technologies (ART), more than 1.1 thousand have already become pregnant.
In 2023, the Ministry of Health started financing ART for the first Time under the state guarantees program for medical services to the population. Access to reproductive health restoration services is the main way to increase the chances of becoming parents.
