The Ministry of Environment reported on the state of water in the Seim and Desna.
Information about the state of the Seim and Desna rivers
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources reports that the state of the Seim and Desna rivers is stabilizing. According to the department, the water quality in the Desna river at the water intakes of Kyiv and Brovary is within the norm. Dissolved oxygen in the water is also within the norm. There are no exceedances in the content of pesticides, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds, and heavy metals. No fish kills have been recorded.
Regarding the Seim river in Sumy region, there is an improvement in water quality. The indicators of chemical oxygen demand have decreased and dissolved oxygen has increased. In the Chernihiv region, there is a noticeable deterioration in the water quality of the Seim river in the town of Baturyn and the village of Dolynske.
The results of water sample measurements indicate that the state of the Seim and Desna rivers is within the norm, without exceedances of environmental standards.
Previously, water pollution was observed in the Seim river, but the situation is already improving. Also, in recent days, a very low water level has been observed in the Desna river in the Kyiv region.
