A powerful explosion occurred at the Omsk refinery, followed by a large-scale fire.

A fire broke out at the largest oil refinery in Omsk, Russia, on August 26th as a result of an explosion. According to Russian emergency services, the fire covered an area of 1000 square meters.

The governor of the Omsk region, Vitaly Khotsenko, reported on his Telegram channel that seven people had been hospitalized, and the condition of one of the victims is considered serious. However, the press service of the Omsk refinery stated that only two people were injured, and the plant continues to operate normally.

The explosion was so powerful that it was heard in various parts of the city - in Amur, Nefteyaki, and the Left Bank. Seven units of equipment and 27 rescuers were involved at the scene.

The Omsk refinery, owned by Gazprom, is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in Russia, processing over 21 million tons of oil annually. The plant produces every sixth liter of Russian gasoline.

The causes of the incident are currently being established.
