Ukrainian military authorities reported that Russian military committed a series of war crimes in the Donetsk region, during which six captive soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed. The Office of the Prosecutor General reported this.
According to operational information, on October 23, 2024, Russian military captured three Ukrainian soldiers during an assault on the city of Selydove. Minutes later, the captors shot the unarmed captives.
On November 1, during the assault on the defensive lines of Ukrainian military in the same Pokrovske direction, Russian military used automatic weapons to kill three more captive soldiers.
The actions of the Russian military are violations of the Geneva Conventions and are classified as international crimes.
Earlier it became known that Russian military shot captive National Guard soldiers near Selydove.
Also on October 18, Russian troops in the Donetsk region committed another war crime by shooting two Ukrainian captives.
It is worth noting that Russia often returns dismembered bodies of Ukrainian captives to their relatives, presumably to hide traces of beating.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that a total of 3767 Ukrainians have returned from Russian captivity.
