The United Kingdom introduces new sanctions against Russia

The United Kingdom has announced a major package of sanctions against Russia aimed at weakening its military machinery and financial flows that support the invasion of Ukraine. According to official information, more than 100 new individuals and organizations have been added to the sanctions list.

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy noted that this is the largest package of sanctions in the last three years, indicating support for Ukraine. 'Every disrupted military supply, every blocked ruble, and every exposed accomplice of Putin's aggression is a step towards a just and sustainable peace,' he stated.

The sanctions target several key groups. Among them are manufacturers and suppliers of machinery, electronics, and dual-use goods for the Russian military from various countries, including Central Asia, Turkey, Thailand, India, and China, which is the largest supplier of critically important goods to the Russian army.

The restrictions also covered North Korean Defense Minister No Kwang Chol and other high-ranking North Korean officials who sent more than 11,000 North Korean soldiers to Russia. According to the British government, North Korea has already lost over 4,000 military personnel in Ukraine.

Among the 13 Russian targets are the company LLC 'Grant-Trade', its owner Marat Mustafaev, and his sister Dinara Mustafaeva, who used the company to supply advanced European technologies to Russia.

For the first Time, the United Kingdom has utilized new powers against foreign financial institutions supporting the Russian military machinery, particularly the Kyrgyz OJSC 'Kéremet Bank'.

The new sanctions have also intensified pressure on Russia's oil revenues. An additional 40 vessels of the 'shadow fleet' that transport Russian oil have been added to the list. Over the past six months, these vessels transported oil and petroleum products worth more than 5 billion dollars. In total, 133 oil tankers have been under British sanctions - the largest among European countries.

Sanctions have also been imposed against 14 'new kleptocrats', among whom is Roman Trotsenko, one of the richest people in Russia with a fortune estimated at 2.2 billion pounds sterling.
