Place of Birth. Education. Igor Balenko was born in Kyiv to a family of civil servants. After finishing high school in 1976, he served in the military. The military command directed him to the preparatory department of the Kyiv Institute of Foreign Languages, where he graduated in 1984 with a diploma as a French language teacher.

Business. While studying at the institute, Igor Balenko worked as a laborer at 'Rassvet' and at the 'Toclektropribor' plant in Kyiv.

In 1991, he founded a self-service supermarket chain called 'Furshet'. By 2006, the 'Furshet' chain had 66 stores and planned to expand to 112 supermarkets. According to company data, they planned to build supermarkets even in small towns with a population of 25,000 people.

Political Activity. In 2006, Igor Balenko was elected a deputy of the Kyiv City Council representing the 'People's Block of Lytvyn' party. He was a member of the People's Party of Volodymyr Lytvyn.

From 2010 to 2012, Igor Balenko was the chairman of the Kyiv city organization of the 'Front of Changes' party.

Since 2014, he has been a deputy of the Kyiv City Council of the VII convocation.

From 2015 to 2020, Igor Balenko was a deputy of the Kyiv City Council of the VIII convocation from the BPP 'Solidarity' party.

In October 2020, he was elected a deputy of the Kyiv City Council of the IX convocation from the 'European Solidarity' party.

Family. Igor Balenko is married to the famous Ukrainian singer Asia Akhat. They have two sons and a granddaughter.
