Date of Birth: 20.09.1938

Place of Birth, Education. Born in Shdanow (now - Mariupol) in the Donetsk Oblast. In 1970, he graduated from the Mariupol Metallurgical Institute (Metallurgical Engineer).

Career. 1955-1960 - Pipeline builder at the water supply plant of the Illyich Metallurgical Plant in Shdanow, installer-mounter at the construction administration 'Stalinschahtobud', coal worker on a fishing trawler of the 'Glavmurmanskiiribprom' fleet, military service.

His further work biography is connected with the Mariupol Metallurgical Combine Illyich, which was named after the city was renamed to Mariupol Metallurgical Combine Illyich.

From 1960 to 1971, V. Boiko progressed from a cold cutter to a brigadier of the sheet rolling mill. He was later a foreman of the sheet rolling mill, deputy head of the production and organizational department for special production, and head of the sheet rolling mill.

1983-1990 - Deputy head of the production and organizational department of the rolling mill, acting head, head of the production and organizational department, deputy director for production and goods supply of the combine.

1990-1997 - General Director of MMK Illyich.

Starting from 1997, after the stock privatization of the company - Chairman of the Board, General Director of OJSC 'Mariupol Metallurgical Plant Illyich'.

1993-1994 - External advisor to Ukrainian President Leonid Kravchuk. From 1994 to 2002 - Deputy of the Donetsk Regional Council in two compositions. Member of the Export Council under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (1999-2003), member of the Coordination Council on domestic policy issues (1998-1999).

2002-2006 - Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the IV Congress from the faction 'For a United Ukraine!' (No. 4 on the electoral list), which was oriented towards President Leonid Kuchma. Member of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada for Industrial and Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship. At various times, he belonged to the factions 'Unity of Ukraine' and 'European Choice', from November 2003 to September 2005 in the faction of the Party of Regions and then became one of the main sponsors of deputies of the Socialist Party of Ukraine.

2006-2007 - Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the V Congress for the Socialist Party (No. 8 on the list). Member of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada for Industrial and Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship.

In the early elections of 2007, V. Boiko was again one of the leading candidates of the Socialist Party, but the sponsorship did not help the party's rating, which fell after entering the coalition with the Party of Regions and the CPU.

2012-2014 - Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the VII Congress from the regional parties (No. 7 on the list).

On January 16, 2014, he voted for the 'dictatorial laws' - a package of undemocratic laws that severely restricted the rights of citizens and freedom of speech.

Awards. He was awarded the title of 'Hero of Ukraine' along with the Order of the State (2003). He was awarded the Order 'For Merit' in three degrees (1997, 1998, 2001). Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (1999). Honorary Citizen of Mariupol (1998). Honored Metallurgist of Ukraine.

Assets. In the area of OJSC MMK Ilyich, alongside the actual metallurgical combine, operates the airline Ilyich-Avia, the Donetsk Chemical and Metallurgical Factory, the VCP Umanfermmash, and a number of agricultural enterprises in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Crimea regions.

According to an estimate by Focus magazine from March 2008, Boiko had a fortune of 3.15 billion USD and ranked an honorable 6th in the list of the 130 richest Ukrainians. It is noted that the significant metallurgist could only boast 1.3 billion USD at the beginning of 2007.

A similar estimate of 3.32 billion USD of the assets of the MMK Ilyich General Director was provided in 2008 by Correspondent magazine.

In 2009, Correspondent magazine estimated Boiko's fortune at 606 million USD, in 2010 at 589 million USD (20th place in the ranking 'Golden Hundred'). In 2011, Focus magazine estimated Boiko's fortune at 744.7 million USD (31st place in the ranking of '200 richest Ukrainians'). In 2014, Forbes estimated Boiko's fortune at 245 million USD.

Death. Vladimir Boiko died on June 10, 2015, at the age of 76.
