Ivan Dombrovsky

Place of Birth. Education.
Born in the village of Zekhanovka in the Krasnooknyansky district of the Odessa region. In 1965, he graduated from the Vocational Technical School. In 1975, he received a legal education at the law faculty of the State Mechnikov University of Odessa.
Career.
After the Vocational Technical School, he worked as an electric welder and served in the military.
He began his legal career as a notary in the Kelmenetskaya District Notary Office (Chernivtsi region).
In 1976, he was appointed judge of the Sokiryansky District People's Court (Chernivtsi region).
From 1982, he served as the head of the Storozhinetskaya District Court in the Chernivtsi region, and from 1991, he was a judge at the Chernivtsi Regional Court.
In 1997, he was elected as a judge of the Supreme Court of Ukraine. From 2003, he was the Secretary of the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court of Ukraine.
In November 2005, he was appointed a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine at the VII Congress of Judges of Ukraine. In June 2006, he was also elected as the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (a position he held until May 2007).
His judicial functions ended on September 9, 2010, following his resignation.
Awards.
Honored Lawyer of Ukraine. Awarded the Order 'For Merit' III class.
