Biography of Stepan Bohdanovych Havrysh

Date of Birth: 02.01.1952

Stepan Bohdanovych Havrysh - Ukrainian politician, first deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (2008-2011), member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the III and IV Congresses.

Doctor of Law, Doctor of the National Law Academy named after Yaroslav the Wise, Academician of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine.

Place of Birth. Education. Born in the village of Oleshev of the Tlumach district in Ivano-Frankivsk. In 1976 he graduated from the Kharkiv Legal Institute with a focus on law.

Career. 1968-1972 - Apprenticeship as a turner, turner, technician, chief technician of the Ivano-Frankivsk branch of the State Institute of Bridge Construction.

1976-1979 - Doctorate at Kharkiv Legal Institute. 1979-1984 - Assistant, senior lecturer of the Department of Criminal Law there.

1984-1992 - Lecturer of the Department of Criminal Law of the National Law Academy named after Yaroslav the Wise.

1992-1994 - President of the legal and auditing firm Global in Kharkiv (part-time).

1994-1998 - President of the legal firm Injurpolis in Kharkiv (part-time).

1995-1998 - Professor of the Department of Criminal Law of the National Law Academy named after Yaroslav the Wise.

Political Career. 1998-2000 - Member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the III Congress, member of the Parliament Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety, as well as part-time Professor of the Department of Criminal Law of the Kharkiv Legal Institute.

2000-2002 - Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament.

2002-2006 - Member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the IV Congress.

Since April 20, 2007 - Advisor to Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko.

On May 3, 2007, he was appointed as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine by presidential decree, but did not take the oath due to the dissolution of the V Congress and did not assume office.

From October 2004 to May 2010, he was a member of the High Council of Justice of Ukraine, appointed by President Leonid Kuchma.

From January 18, 2008 to 2011 - First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

In the fall of 2012, he ran as an independent candidate in the elections to the VII Congress of the Ukrainian Parliament in constituency No. 176 (Kharkiv region), but lost to the representative of the Party of Regions Dmitri Shentsev.

In the early parliamentary elections of 2014, he also took second place in the constituency with a result of 7.45% of the votes and lost to Dmitri Shentsev.

President of the Taxpayers' Association of Ukraine (1998), President of the Children's Charitable Fund 'Hope Coast' (2002), Chairman of the Public Expert Council for Legislation (2002), member of the Government Committee for Economic Development and European Integration Issues (2003), member of the Board of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine (2003), member of the Supervisory Board of the group UkrEkonorezursy (2004).

Awards. Doctor of Law, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine.

Honored with the Order of 'For Merit' of II and III class.

Honored Lawyer of Ukraine.
