Career. Golomsha began his professional career after school as a worker at the Striyska shoe factory. After military service, he worked in a peasant brigade, then as the head of the accounting department at the Skolevsky committee of the Komsomol.

After finishing his studies, he began working at the prosecutor's office. He was an investigator in the district law enforcement agency in Stryi. From 1992 to 2000, he held various positions in the prosecutor's office of the Lviv region. He started as an investigator and then became the first deputy district prosecutor.

From 2000 to 2001, he was the first deputy prosecutor of the Chernivtsi region. He was then promoted to the Prosecutor General's Office: in 2001 he led the department for monitoring compliance with environmental protection laws for several months.

In September 2001, he was appointed prosecutor of the Rivne region. In November 2003, he became deputy attorney general of Ukraine. In April 2007, Golomsha was appointed prosecutor of the Lviv region but returned in May to his previous position as deputy attorney general.

On October 23, 2014, attorney general Vitaly Yarema dismissed his first deputy Nikolay Golomsha according to the lustration law 'On the Liberation of Power'.

Political Activity. Nikolay Golomsha is the leader of the political party Patriot.

Views and Assessments. Golomsha's transfer to Lviv in the spring of 2007 can be interpreted as a kind of exile due to his loyalty to President Viktor Yushchenko's team. It occurred amid the sharp conflict of the head of state with the anti-crisis coalition led by the regions party leader Viktor Yanukovych. It ended when the resistance of the regional supporters in the Prosecutor General's Office was broken and the question of holding early parliamentary elections initiated by the head of state was finally resolved.

After returning to the position of deputy attorney general, Golomsha was tasked with leading investigations into the most high-profile criminal cases (including the murder of journalist Georgiy Gongadze and the poisoning of Yushchenko). Subsequently, as the media reported, his candidacy at the presidential office (with the involvement of the head of the presidential office Viktor Baloga) was considered for the position of head of the GPU, but the appointment did not take place.

Scandals. In January 2008, it was revealed that the Prosecutor General's Office had opened a criminal case regarding the attempted poisoning of Golomsha with mercury vapors in his own office. According to the GPU's press service, traces of this toxic metal were indeed found at the deputy attorney general's workplace. Golomsha had even inhaled dangerous vapors, after which he was hospitalized. A few months later, while answering journalists' questions at a press conference, the deputy attorney general said that he had undergone intensive treatment and now felt fine.

Awards. Golomsha - Honored Lawyer of Ukraine. Honored with the insignias 'Honored Worker of the Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine', 'Thanks for faithful service in the prosecutor's office', National Interpol Bureau 'For Merits', etc.
