Vasily Vasilyevich Humenyuk (Protyvsikh) - Ukrainian politician. He is known for changing his last name to 'Protyvsikh' before the presidential elections in 2010 and running for the presidency.
Place of Birth. Education. Born in the village of Oleshkiv in the Sniatyn district of the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
In 1975, he graduated from Lviv State University with a degree in 'Lawyer'.
Career. After school, he worked on the construction of the chemical factory in Kalush. In February 1965, he began working as a loader at the Ivano-Frankivsk automobile repair plant.
1965-1968 - Served in the Soviet Army. After discharge, he worked on a collective farm.
1975-1976 - Chief legal advisor of the agricultural district administration of Ivano-Frankivsk.
In 1976, he moved to the executive committee of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
1980-1991 - Deputy chairman, chairman of the executive committee of the city of Yaremche. He was dismissed from the chairmanship by a decision of the city council.
1992-1994 - Representative of Ukraine at the CIS.
In 1994, he became the deputy head of the consular service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
1995 - Deputy head, head of the customs office of Ivano-Frankivsk.
From 1997 to 2015 - President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ivano-Frankivsk.
He was elected as a deputy of the Lviv city council, three times as a deputy of the Yaremche city council, and twice as a deputy of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional council.

Vasily Protyvsikh claims that he knows Viktor Yushchenko well: 'I have known him for a long time. The late Vadym Hetman introduced us; he was then working in the 'Ukraina' bank department as a manager. Well, what can I say, I could never imagine that a person could change so much when he becomes president. Before the presidential elections in 2004, I handed Viktor Andreyevich my personal staff that was given to me for my 50th birthday. I said to him: 'Here, Vitya, take this - it is your Hetman staff and you will be president of Ukraine'. I said this long before the elections, at the airport in Ivano-Frankivsk, in the presence of many witnesses.'
In 2007, he ran for the premature parliamentary elections to the Verkhovna Rada in 23rd place on the list of the KUCHMA block, whose political leader was Alexander Volkov.
On October 2, 2009, he changed his last name from Humenyuk to Protyvsikh, under which he ran for president. In the 2010 presidential elections in Ukraine, he received only 40,352 votes (0.16%) and came in 13th out of 18; after his defeat, he urged voters to support Viktor Yanukovych .
In February 2010, he reverted to his former last name Humenyuk.
In 2012, he ran as an independent candidate in electoral district No. 83 (Ivano-Frankivsk) in the parliamentary elections and came in 8th out of 10 with 627 votes (0.62%).
