Boris Lozhkin

Boris Yevgenyevich Lozhkin - Ukrainian politician and entrepreneur. Head of the Administration of the President of Ukraine (2014–2016). President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine (since May 2018).
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Kharkiv. In 1992, he graduated from the International Institute of Humanization and Development (USA) with a focus on 'Top Management Manager'. In 1994, he graduated from Kharkiv State Pedagogical Institute with degrees in 'Russian Language and Literature'.
Career and Business. Since 1985 (at the age of 14), he began a journalistic career as a freelancer for the newspapers 'Leninska Smina' and 'Evening Kharkiv' while studying. After three years, he became a full-time journalist and editor of the daily newspaper 'Evening Kharkiv'.

He began to become an entrepreneur while studying at university and founded a successful book and magazine trading network in Kharkiv at the age of 18. Alongside the development of his own business, Boris Lozhkin continued his journalistic career in print media and television.
At the end of 1990, 19-year-old Boris Lozhkin founded the newspaper 'ATV', which published stories about movie and TV stars. Thanks to the funds he received from sales, he, along with partners, founded a full-service advertising agency and TV production, and in the autumn of 1994, the first issue of the TV program 'TV Week' was published.
1997 - Founder of the 'Young Kharkiv' Fund.
From 1994 to 1998 - Deputy of the Dzerzhinsky District Council of Kharkiv and advisor to the Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov.
From 1998 to 2002 - Deputy of the Kharkiv City Council.
In 1998, he acquired shares of the radio station 'Radio-50' in Kharkiv. The next important step was Boris Lozhkin's partnership with the Surkis brothers at the 'Kiev News' radio station.
In 2000, he became president of UMH. In 2001, UMH acquired the radio stations Melodiya and Europa Plus.
Since 2003, a member of the Entrepreneurial Council under the Cabinet of Ukraine.
In November 2003, Boris Lozhkin entered the Russian media market. In 2005, he, along with partners, founded the Popular Press Publishing House and launched the 'TV Week' magazine in Russia.
By the age of 30, Boris Lozhkin, in addition to 'TV Week', published the magazine 'Football' and concluded a number of media contracts - he signed a long-term contract for the publication of the newspaper 'Argumenty i Fakty-Ukraine', became a co-owner of the newspaper 'Komsomolskaya Pravda' in Ukraine along with PrivatBank and launched Ukrainian versions of Express-Gazeta, Izvestia, Sovershenno Sekretno.
In 2002, Lozhkin and Gennady Bogolyubov opened a modern printing complex in Kyiv. Starting in 2006, they further developed the commercial area - a national network for selling magazines and related products 'Tvoi pressa'.
2004-2006 - President of the Ukrainian Association of Publishers of Periodical Press.
Since 2006, a member of the board of WAN-IFRA - the largest professional association of media and print media representing over 18,000 print publications, 15,000 internet publications, and 3,000 publishers from more than 120 countries worldwide.
In 2008, UMH conducted a private placement on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, selling 15% of the shares for 45 million US dollars, achieving a market capitalization of 300 million US dollars. By this time, UMH had 83 media projects in its portfolio in the print, radio, and internet sectors in Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus.
Since 2010, Boris Lozhkin actively supplemented his portfolio of media brands: he signed contracts with American companies Forbes Media and Conde Nast, granting him the right to publish Forbes (since 2011) and Vogue (since 2013) magazines in Ukraine.
In 2011, Lozhkin and Petro Poroshenko acquired the publishing company and website 'Korrespondent' (KP Media). Later (2012), Lozhkin merged part of the internet assets (portals) with Media Group Ukraine (a subsidiary of SCM owned by Rinat Akhmetov) into United Online Ventures.
2012 - Member of the Presidium of the Association of Employers of the Media Industry of Ukraine. That same year, he was the initiator and organizer of the WAN-IFRA World Newspaper Congress in Kyiv. The project was supported by the Administration of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.
In 2012, the Lozhkin Group publishing house became the largest publishing house in Ukraine.
In June 2013, Boris Lozhkin announced the conclusion of a contract for the sale of 98% of UMH shares to the VETEK group (owned by oligarch Sergey Kurchenko, connected with the close circle of former President Viktor Yanukovych). The expert assessment of the deal volume published in the press ranged from 340 to 500 million US dollars. On November 5, 2013, he announced the termination of the deal. Within the next month, more than 40 journalists from Forbes and Korrespondent magazines were fired, explaining their actions by the introduction of censorship in UMH publications.
On June 10, 2014, Boris Lozhkin was appointed Head of the Administration of the President of Ukraine by the order of President Petro Poroshenko.
On August 29, 2016, Lozhkin resigned, citing his own reasons.
