Biography of Petro Mechid:
Date of Birth: 22.03.1961
Place of Birth. Education. Petr Mechid was born in the village of Pukhovka in the Brovarsky District of Kyiv region. In 1982, he graduated from the Kyiv Higher General Army Command School and in 2009 from the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine. Career. In the Armed Forces from August 1978 to September 2008. From 1982 to 1992, Petr Mechid served as an officer - from the commander of a reconnaissance platoon of a reconnaissance company of a separate airborne storm brigade to the chief of staff - deputy commander of a motorized infantry battalion of a motorized infantry regiment of a tank division. After his entry into the Armed Forces of Ukraine in September 1992, he held positions at the Kyiv Institute of Land Forces from October 2000 to October 2000 - from head of the course of the Faculty of Military Intelligence to senior lecturer (operational-tactical training) of the Intelligence Department of the Faculty of Intelligence. From October 2000 to September 2008, he held positions in the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine - from head of the department to deputy director of the department. In 2002, Petr Mechid completed a training in defense studies at the George C. Marshall European Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
From July 2009 to March 2014, he worked as a teacher at the Military Institute of the Kyiv National University T.G. Shevchenko and held the positions of a teacher, senior lecturer, and lecturer of the faculty. Since March 2014, he has been the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
Since May 16, 2014, he has been the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine - Head of the Office.
On September 30, 2015, he was dismissed from his position by government order No. 1009-r due to a reduction in the staff list according to the decree of President Petro Poroshenko No. 39 of January 28. The presidential decree changed the list of positions in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the corresponding military ranks. Awards. Reserve Colonel.
