Alexey Borisovich Miller
- Chairman of the Management Board of PAO 'Gazprom', Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of 'Gazprom Neft', 'Gazprombank' and 'Sogaz'. Candidate of Economic Sciences. He is part of the closest political circle of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Due to his support for Russia's full-scale aggression in Ukraine, he is under personal international sanctions from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Ukraine, and New Zealand.

Place of Birth. Education. Born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). In 1984, he graduated from the Leningrad Financial and Economic Institute named after N.Voznesensky. In 1986, he entered the postgraduate program at LFEI, and after defending his dissertation in 1989, he was awarded the title of Candidate of Economic Sciences.

Career. After graduating from the institute (before entering the postgraduate program), Alexey Miller worked as an engineer-economist at the general plan workshop of the Leningrad Research and Design Institute of Residential and Civil Construction 'LennNIIproject'. In 1990, he was appointed as a junior researcher at LFEI. In the same year, he headed a sub-department of the Committee for Economic Reform of the Executive Committee of the Leningrad Soviet. From 1991 to 1996, he worked in the Committee on External Relations of the St. Petersburg Mayor's Office (the chairman of the committee later became the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin). He headed the market situation department of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations. Later, he held positions as head of department and deputy chairman of the committee. From 1996 to 1999, Alexey Miller was the Director of Development and Investments at PAO 'Marine Port of St. Petersburg'. From 1999 to 2000, he was the General Director of PAO 'Baltic Pipeline System'. In 2000, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation. In 2001, he took the post of Chairman of the Management Board of PAO 'Gazprom' (replacing Viktor Chernomyrdin). A year later, he was joined by the post of Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazprom (the chairman of the board at that time was Dmitry Medvedev).

Sanctions. On April 6, 2018, he was included in the sanctions list of the USA among 17 members of the government and 7 businessmen from Russia.

Due to his support for Russia's full-scale aggression in Ukraine, he is under personal international sanctions from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Ukraine, and New Zealand.

Awards. Order 'For Merits to the Fatherland' IV degree, Medal of the Order 'For Merits to the Fatherland' II degree, Order 'Cross of the Hungarian Republic' II degree for contributions to energy cooperation, Order 'Saint Mesrop Mashtots' (Republic of Armenia), Order 'Dostyk' ('Friendship') II degree (Republic of Kazakhstan).

Income. In 2012, he ranked 2nd in the list of the richest executives in Russia according to Forbes with an income of $25 million. In 2013, he ranked 3rd in the list of the richest managers in Russia with the same income of $25 million per year. In 2014, he was 2nd again with $25 million. In 2015, he became the highest-paid top manager in Russia with an income of $27 million. He owns 0.000958% of Gazprom's shares. By the end of 2016, he topped Forbes' ranking of the richest executives of Russian companies with an income of $17.7 million.
