2005 European Championship - 2nd place in team competition.
2007 European Championship - 1st place in team competition.
Champion of the XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing 2008. In the final of the pistol shooting from 25 meters, Alexander Petriv scored 580 points and set a new Olympic record. Second was Ralf Schumann from Germany, third was another representative from Germany, Christian Reitz.
In December 2012, Alexander Petriv became the world champion in military shooting in Guangzhou (People's Republic of China). He won the 'Gold' World Championship in RP-5 training (30 shots from 25 meters at a round target and 30 shots at a silhouette target) with 589 points.
In summer 2013 in Osijek (Croatia), Petriv, along with Roma Bondaruk and Ivan Bednyak, won bronze medals at the European Championship in small-bore shooting in the team competition.
In October 2019 at the 7th Military World Games in China, together with Pavlo Korostylev and Yuriy Kolesnyk, they placed third in the large-caliber pistol competition at 25 m with 1736 points.
