Nikolai Selivon

Date of Birth: 30.11.1946

Nikolai Fedosovich Selivon - Ukrainian lawyer, judge, and diplomat. Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (2002-2005). Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Kazakhstan (2006-2010).

Since November 2010 - Chairman of the International Commercial Court at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, Chairman of the Maritime Commission at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, Member of the Presidium of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine.

Place of Birth. Education. Born in the village of Shestovitsa in the Chernigov region in a peasant family. In 1973, he graduated from the Law Faculty of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Career. He began his professional activity as a locksmith and mechanic. He has completed his military service.

His legal career began in 1973 as a research intern at the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR.

From 1979 - in responsible positions in the government of the Ukrainian SSR and then the independent Ukraine: Senior Legal Officer, Acting Head of the Legal Department, Head of the Legal Department, Deputy Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers, First Deputy Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers.

In September 1996, he was appointed as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine by a decree of the President of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma.

From October 1999 to October 2002, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

From October 2002 to October 2005, he was Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

The powers of the judge of the VSK Selivan were terminated on October 19, 2005.

From May 10, 2006, to July 29, 2010, he was the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Kazakhstan.

Since November 2010 to the present - Chairman of the International Commercial Court, Chairman of the Maritime Commission at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, Member of the Presidium of the ICC Ukraine.

Author of a number of monographs on legal issues of the organization and activity of people's deputy councils. Involved in the drafting of legislative proposals to ensure the political independence and economic autonomy of Ukraine, to establish a market economy, to protect the social population, to create a new system of state administration and local self-government. As an expert, involved in the development of the draft Constitution of Ukraine.
