Yuriy Anatoliyovych Sergiyev - Ukrainian diplomat, permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN (2007-2015), extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Ukraine to France (2003-2007), extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Ukraine to Greece (1997-2000).
Place of birth. Education. Born in Leninakan (Armenia). In 1981, he graduated from Kyiv State University named after Shevchenko, philologist-teacher. Fluent in English and French.
Career. 1981-1989 - Assistant of the Department of Philological Faculty of Kyiv State University named after Shevchenko.
1989-1992 - Associate Professor of the Department of Philological Faculty, Deputy Director of the Institute of Ukrainian Studies at Kyiv State University named after Shevchenko.
From April 1992 to September 1993, Sergiyev headed the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
From September 1993 to August 1994 - Head of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
From August to December 1994 - Head of the Secretariat of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
From December 1994 to January 1997 - Head of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
From January to November 1997 - Advisor-Envoy at the Embassy of Ukraine to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
From November 6, 1997 to December 15, 2000 - extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Ukraine to Greece.
From August 20, 1999 to December 15, 2000 - extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Ukraine to Albania concurrently.
From December 2000 to July 2001, Sergiyev headed the Main Directorate for Foreign Policy of the Administration of the President of Ukraine.
From February to July 2001 - First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
From July 2001 to March 2003 - State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
From March 3, 2003 to April 18, 2007 - extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Ukraine to France, permanent representative of Ukraine to UNESCO.
From April 18, 2007, Sergiyev was the permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN. In December 2015, Volodymyr Yelchenko replaced Sergiyev in this position.
From June 17, 2008 to December 2015 - extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Ukraine to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas concurrently.
In February 2016, Sergiyev announced his retirement from a diplomatic career and retirement.
