Bogdan Sokolovsky

Date of Birth: 12.04.1954

Place of Birth. Education. Born in the village of Oleksentsi in the Borshchiv district of Ternopil Oblast. In 1976, he graduated from the Faculty of Physics at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, and in 1980 he completed his postgraduate studies.

Career. From 1976 to 1978 - physics teacher at school No. 44 in Lviv.

From 1981 to 1993 - research associate at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (research in the field of experimental physics of special materials and special technologies under extreme conditions). Head of the scientific laboratory, deputy chairman of the research council of the Institute of Applied Physics.

In addition to the Lviv University, he worked in the laboratories of the Kurchatov Institute for Atomic Energy, the Ioffe Physical Technical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and later at the universities of Marburg and Chemnitz (formerly Karl-Marx-Stadt) in Germany.

Since April 1993 - in diplomatic service: First Secretary, Adviser on Science and Technology at the Ukrainian Embassy in Germany. From 1997 - Deputy Head, later Head of the Department of International Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. From 1999 to 2000 - Minister-Counselor at the Ukrainian Embassy in the USA. From 2000 to 2003 - Head of the Bonn Department at the Ukrainian Embassy in Germany, Minister-Counselor at the Ukrainian Embassy in Austria.

From 2003 to 2008 he headed the Secretariat of the Ukrainian People's Party (UNP). In 2006, he ran for Deputy in the Ukrainian Parliament for the list (under No. 25) of the Ukrainian People's Bloc Kostenko and Plyusha. Today he is the Deputy Chairman of the UNP faction Yuri Kostenko. Previously, he was a member of the Popular Movement of Ukraine (since 1989), Ukrainian People's Movement.

Since April 2007, he has been an advisor in the Secretariat of the President of Ukraine for Foreign Policy.

2008-2010 - Authorized Representative of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko for international energy security issues.

Scientific Activity. Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Author of over 100 scientific works and inventions, co-author of a monograph.

Family. Married. He has a son and a daughter.
