Yan Petrovich (birth name - Yakov Pinevich) Tabachnik is a Ukrainian pop virtuoso accordionist, composer, president of the Higher League of World Accordion Masters. A people's deputy of Ukraine of the V, VI, and VII convocations from the Party of Regions. General producer and host of the international television project 'I have the honor to request', founder of the festival-competitions 'Vladimir Kraynev Invites' and 'AccoHoliday', head of the International Creative Center of Yan Tabachnik.
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Chernivtsi. In 1990, he graduated from Melitopol State Pedagogical Institute with a degree in music and singing (qualification - teacher of music and singing).
Career. He first picked up the accordion at the age of 10. His entire fate is linked to this instrument. He began working in semi-professional collectives at the age of 13, and transitioned to the professional stage at the age of 16.

Political Career. In 2006, 2007, and 2012, Yan Tabachnik became a people's deputy of Ukraine from the Party of Regions. In the Verkhovna Rada of the V convocation, he held the position of first deputy chairman of the committee on spirituality and culture. In the VI and VII convocations, he worked in the committee on combating organized crime and corruption as the chairman of the subcommittee for control, coordination, information-analytical and scientific-research support for the fight against organized crime and corruption.

Views and Evaluations. Perhaps the musician's 'transition' to politics was due not only to old friendship or friendly relations with many prominent politicians during the reigns of Leonid Kravchuk and Leonid Kuchma. In 2005, after the 'Orange Revolution', the maestro was greatly angered by then Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Issues Mykola Tomenko due to anti-Semitic statements addressed to certain cultural figures accused of hostility to the 'ideals of the Maidan'. In addition, there was a reason to be offended by the fact that the new government deprived Tabachnik of a land plot of 8 hectares on the Dnieper embankment in the capital, where the famous accordionist planned to build an 'international creative center'.
Already in parliament, he explained his transition from the committee on culture to the committee on combating corruption by saying that he wanted to 'solve the problems of corrupt culture'. 'I do not know of any festival in our country where there would be honest relations. Someone may say that this is an accusation in words. But I know how it is done! By the way, I am talking about festivals backed by budget money,' the musician said in one of his interviews. However, the media somehow do not report on the active anti-corruption activities of the patron. In addition, the statistical accounting database of performances, deputy inquiries, and submitted bills is posted on the Verkhovna Rada website, the initiatives of deputy Tabachnik during the V-VI convocations have not yet been recorded.
The musician and deputy says that at one time he even communicated with Viktor Yushchenko's family. Evaluating his relations with power, Tabachnik said: 'For me, both Yushchenko, Kuchma, and Kravchuk are the same. None of them gave me a thread. My main sponsor is my bow, with which I earned everything I have.'
Public Activity. Since 2000, Tabachnik has been the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the All-Ukrainian Fund of Hopes and Good. Honorary professor of the Tel Aviv Conservatory and the Karl Lipinski Music Academy.
