Born in Tskhinvali (South Ossetia). He started practicing freestyle wrestling at the age of 11.

Sports Career.

Champion of the Soviet Union (1990). European Champion (1993). Competed in the Summer Olympics in Atlanta (USA) - finished fifth (1996). Competed in the weight category up to 90 kg.

Honored Master of Sports of Russia.

Coaching Career.

Since 2001, he has served as the head coach of the Russian men's national wrestling team. Honored Coach of Russia.

In February 2012, he resigned from the position of head coach of the Russian men's national wrestling team voluntarily.

Political Career.

In 2011, he attempted to run for the presidency of the unrecognized Republic of South Ossetia. The Central Election Commission of the Republic refused to register his candidacy, resulting in protests in Tskhinvali.

Later, Tedyev supported the candidacy of Alla Dzhioyeva.

Deputy of the Parliament of the RSO-Alania of the sixth convocation. Member of the Committee on Agricultural Policy, Land, Ecology and Natural Resources. Member of the faction "Patriots of Russia."

He held the military rank of major. Lives in Moscow.
