Christoph Weil - German lawyer and diplomat who served as the Deputy and Extraordinary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine from 2012 to 2016.

Place of Birth. Education. Born in the western German city of Heilbronn. He received legal training.

Career. From 1983 to 1985, he studied at the Diplomatic Academy of the Federal Foreign Office in Bonn.

From 1985 to 1986, he worked in the Berlin and Germany Department of the Federal Foreign Office.

From 1986 to 1989, he held a position at the Federal Republic of Germany Embassy in Moscow.

From 1989 to 1991, he was employed at the Federal Republic of Germany Embassy in Brazil.

From 1991 to 1994, he served in the NATO Department of the Federal Foreign Office.

From 1994 to 1997, he worked at the Federal Republic of Germany Embassy in Poland.

From 1997 to 1999, he was an employee in the Planning Staff of the Federal Foreign Office.

From 1999 to 2003, he worked at the NATO International Secretariat in Brussels.

From 2003 to 2007, he headed the Department for European Security and Defense Policy of the Federal Foreign Office.

From 2007 to 2008, he completed the Harvard Fellows Program in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

From 2008 to 2009, he served as the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Iraq in Baghdad.

From 2009 to 2010, he worked at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.

From 2010 to 2012, he was the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Belarus in Minsk.

From 2012 to 2016, he served as the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine in Kyiv.

From 2016 to July 2019 - Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Portugal.
