Igor Alexandrovich Zhdanov

- Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine (2014-2019).

Place of Birth. Education. Born in Vinnytsia. In 1992, he graduated from the Faculty of History of Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv. In 1994, he completed postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Law of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; in 1996 - courses at Thames Valley University (UK).

Career. 1986-1988 - Service in the army.

1994 - Representative of the presidential candidate of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, in the Central Electoral Commission.

1994-1995 - worked in the legal department of the administration of the President of Ukraine and in the group of assistants to President Kuchma.

1997-1999 - staff member of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of the NSDC).

1995-1997 and 1999-2005 - Director for Political and Legal Programs of the Ukrainian Center for Economic and Political Studies named after A. Razumkov.

Since 2002 - freelance advisor to the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on issues of combating organized crime and corruption.

2004 - Senior Analyst of the election headquarters of presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko.

2005-2007 - First Deputy Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the People's Union Our Ukraine Party, member of the Political Council of the party. In the parliamentary elections of 2006 and 2007, he was part of the leadership of the central staffs of the blocks Our Ukraine and Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense.

Since May 2008 - President of the Analytical Center 'Open Policy' (Kyiv).

In 2014, he was elected to the Verkhovna Rada from the Batkivshchyna Party.

From December 2, 2014, to April 14, 2016 - Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine in the government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

In February 2016, he was dismissed from the ministerial post due to leaving the coalition of Batkivshchyna and was expelled from the Batkivshchyna Party.

On April 14, 2016, the Verkhovna Rada accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and supported the candidacy of Volodymyr Groysman as his successor. On that day, the Parliament approved the new government, in which Shdanov retained his position as Minister of Youth and Sports.

On August 29, 2019, Igor Shdanov resigned as Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

Since October 2019, Igor Shdanov has been a member of the Foundation Board of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA Foundation Board Member), elected by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
