Olaf Scholz calls on Ukrainians to return home or start working
The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, has urged Ukrainians who are in Germany without jobs to return home or start working. According to him, many of them are receiving social benefits for too long. He also emphasized that Germany provides all opportunities for language learning.
According to the politician, previous measures to stimulate employment have been insufficient. He discussed this with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and received information about the intention to create an institution in Germany and Poland that would help Ukrainians return home or find work.
Recently, Scholz had already urged Ukrainian refugees in Germany to start working as soon as possible. Thanks to the Job-Turbo program of the federal government, the number of working Ukrainians in Germany is increasing. However, the politician acknowledged that working in a qualified position requires some Time and certain procedures, but one can start, for example, with part-time work and obtain a certificate later.
According to Scholz, the responsibility for the part-time employment of Ukrainians lies with the federal states and employers. There is an excessive number of duplicating bodies for the recognition of professional degrees and qualifications.
These issues are planned to be resolved in cooperation with the institution established in Ukraine, which will support Ukrainians in the process of returning or finding employment in Germany.
The conversation between Olaf Scholz and Volodymyr Zelensky lasted more than two hours. It became one of the longest bilateral meetings.
