Five minor children together with their mother were found in a grove on the outskirts of Ternopil. Together with the police child service, patrol officers discovered the family living in homemade tents. In January, this story shocked the entire country. The children have now been taken away, and law enforcement is investigating how the mother of many children ended up on the streets.
The little ones were taken to a shelter in Rivne. They are twins who are already four years old, as well as a six-year-old, an eight-year-old, and a nine-year-old. Earlier, their mother, 25-year-old Victoria, lived with a man named Arsen in one of the villages in Rivne region. The man says he took care of the children, even though they are not his relatives. One day, the wife decided to go to Poland as a refugee, and he accompanied her to the bus station. The life of Victoria and her children discovered near Ternopil surprised him very much.
The children attended a special school. Victoria took them and went on a journey. The school called, asking when the children would return to classes, and Victoria refused the teachers. She said that they had gone to visit relatives in another region.
One of the reasons why the large family ended up in the forest is Victoria's new partner. When the patrol officers found the tent where a Roma was living, the brother of one of them explained that his brother married Victoria. They were forced to settle in the forest due to lack of money for an apartment.
Currently, Victoria has not been allowed to take the children from the shelter; she has only visited them once. Social services gave her Time until February to think it over. After that, she may lose parental rights.
