Behind the Wheel is Prohibited: At What Age Drivers Cannot Drive a Car.
Almost half of European drivers over the age of 75 continue to drive their own vehicles, which concerns road safety experts. Statistics show that older drivers have an increased risk of being involved in traffic accidents due to a natural decrease in reaction speed and concentration ability.
General practitioner Ingrid Denshel confirms these concerns, but emphasizes the need for an individual approach when restricting older drivers based on their physical and psychological condition.
Ziegfried Brockmann, a member of the road safety council, calls for age limits for drivers over 75, as most of them are capable of safely driving a car up to that age.
Psychologist Katya Shlyainits believes that the experience of older drivers can be their advantage, but they should monitor their health and voluntarily stop driving if signs of cognitive impairments arise.
